Halifax, N.S. – Moncton Wildcats [15 – 5 – 1 (31 pts)] doubled the hometown Halifax Mooseheads 2 – 1 on Saturday night, before 8,252 at the Halifax Metro Center to remain in a tie with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens [13 – 4 – 3 – 2 (31 pts)] for first place in the QMJHL. Moncton remains in sole possession of first place in the Atlantic Division, seven points ahead of the Halifax Mooseheads [9 – 4 – 5 – 1 (24 pts)].

On Saturday, the teams battled through a scoreless first and second periods before Moncton scored twice within 39 seconds to break the scoreless deadlock. Bruce Graham got the Wildcats on the board at the 12:08 mark, with his 12th goal of the season, as Steve Bernier and Nathan Saunders were credited with assists. Then, at 12:47, Stephane Goulet scored the eventual game winner, unassisted, his seventh goal of the season. Halifax's Marc-Andre Bernier (9th) ruined a fantastic effort by Moncton's Corey Crawford, as he notched a powerplay marker at the 18:02 mark, as Moncton's Adam Pineault was serving a penalty.

Halifax outshot Moncton 45 – 20, including 11 – 6 in the first period, 17 – 3 in the second and 17 – 11 in the third. Moncton was 0 for 6 on the powerplay, while Halifax went 1 for 6. Crawford improved his league-leading record to 12 – 3 – 1, while Jason Churchill fell to 8 – 5 – 5. The game's three stars were #1 – Corey Crawford, #2 – Steve Bernier and #3 – Petr Vrana.

Moncton returns home to host the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies on Wednesday, November 10th in a 7 pm contest at the Moncton Coliseum.
