Moncton Wildcats News Release

MONCTON- The Wildcats announced today that the team has acquired defenseman Anthony Hamel from the Charlottetown Islanders; a 3rd round pick in 2022 and a 6th round pick in 2022, in exchange for Sean Stewart.

The soon-to-be 19-year-old from Gatineau QC, was drafted by the Islanders in 2018. Last season was his first in the QMJHL as a 17-year-old, playing in 40 games, recording 3 points and 55 penalty minutes. This year he has played in 14 games to date, recording three points.

"Sean is everything you want in a Wildcat," said Director of Hockey Operations, Ritchie Thibeau. "This was a very difficult trade to make, as Sean is such a great player and teammate."

"We are fortunate to acquire a player like Anthony whom we got to know and appreciate by playing against him so many times."

We would like to thank Sean for his time with the Wildcats. Drafted by Moncton in 2017, he spent the past two seasons here in Moncton. He has been a solid and reliable presence on our blueline for 125 games, and we wish him all the best with the Islanders.
