Washington Wild Things News Release
Washington, PA - The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, beat the Midwest Sliders 5-2 in the first of a three game series at CONSOL Energy Park.
Doubles by Phil Laurent and Michael Parker gave Washington a 4-0 lead in the second inning. The Sliders scored two runs in the fourth, but did not score again.
Chris Demons hit a solo homerun in the sixth inning, making the score 5-2.
Washington starting pitcher Andrew Schindling got the win tonight. He gave up only four hits and two earned runs in 6.1 innings. Nick Peterson got his fifth save of the season. The Wild Things played in front of a sell out crowd, with a paid attendance of 3,467.
The Wild Things and the Sliders play again Monday night at 7:05. Airtime on WJPA 95.3 FM is 6:55 PM.
