
Wild Things Round Out Coaching Staff for 2009 Season

Washington, PA - The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, finalized their coaching staff for the 2009 season.
Mark Mason has completed his coaching staff with the hiring of Bob Bozzuto, Larry Wayman, and Jon Cahill.
Bob Bozzuto returns for his fourth season as part of the Washington staff. He has served the team since 2006 as bullpen, infield, and in his current role of bench coach. Bozzuto, a Greensburg native, has coached the Allegheny Athletics, Wooden Summer Baseball League, and the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League. He is also the Athletic Director at North Allegheny High school.
Larry Wayman will return for his second season as the pitching coach for the Wild Things. Wayman is an associate scout for the Atlanta Braves and has been head coach at Franklin Regional High School since 1993. He was the pitching coach for the Murrysville Maulers of the Great Lakes League in 2002 and 2003, and he was the field manager for the Youngstown Express in 2004. He also has international coaching experience with the Belgium National Team where he was pitching coat from 1991-1993.
Former Wild Things' Shortstop Jon Cahill returns to Washington as hitting coach this season. Cahill played for the Wild Things in 2003 and 2004. In '04 the Massachusetts native played in 93 games with a .274 batting average, 87 hits, 11 doubles, six home runs, and 49 RBI for the Wild Things.
After retiring as a player, Cahill stepped into a coaching role, joining Mason as the hitting coach for the Ohio Valley Red Coats in 2005. He assumed the same role in Traverse City under former Wild Things manager Jeff Isom in 2006. Following the 2006 season, Cahill was named manager of the Beach Bums a position he held for the 2007 and 2008 seasons. Cahill replaces Chris Carter as hitting coach as Carter has decided no to return for the 2009 season to concentrate on his baseball academy in Myrtle Beach, SC.
"I'm looking forward to working with Jon, Boz, and Larry," said Mark Mason, Wild Things' field manager. "Between the four of us we have 15 years of coaching experience in the Frontier League entering the 2009 season. I've had the pleasure of working with Jon and Boz before, and I'm looking forward to working closely with Larry and our pitching staff. All three bring extensive knowledge of baseball and the league to our team. As a staff, we will do everything possible to make our team fundamentally sound and exciting to watch. Our players will be given every opportunity to showcase their talent for our fans and the fans around the league."
The Wild Things open the 2009 season at home on May 22nd when they host the Lake Erie Crushers. Season Ticket packages (starting at $48.00) are available at the box office.
