Wild Things Hang On to Beat Crushers 2-1

WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Financial Bank, evened the series with the Lake Erie Crushers with a 2-1 victory Saturday night at CONSOL Energy Park.

Lake Erie took an early lead when center fielder Patrick Norris tripled and scored on an Andrew Davis single.

Lake Erie shortstop Jodam Rivera committed an error, allowing Wild Things first baseman Doug Thennis to advance to third, after he drove in second baseman Scott Lawson. Thennis then scored off a single by right fielder Luis Rivera, giving the Wild Things a 2-1 lead.

Solid Wild Thing defense held the Crushers to one run, making the final score 2-1.

Wild Things starting pitcher Casey Barnes (4-3) got the win throwing eight innings with six hits, one run, two walks, and two strikeouts. Reliever Taylor Wulf, closed out the game pitching one inning, with no hits or runs, one walk, and one strikeout.

Lake Erie starter Paul Fagan (3-7) took the loss, allowing three hits, two runs, three walks, and six strikeouts in eight innings of work.

The Washington Wild Things finish out their series against the Lake Erie Crushers Sunday at 6:35 p.m. with Family Fun Day presented by Chesapeake Energy and Christmas in July at CONSOL Energy Park.
