Rascals Win Third Straight in Marion

Marion, Ill. - River City took a 9-0 lead over the Southern Illinois Miners in the first five innings en-route to their third-straight dominant win in Marion by a final of 9-5.

The Rascals (35-14) scored three times in the first inning off former River City starter Ryan Zink as Chad Maddox drove in two with a triple. River City continued to pound the 2011 All-star in the third with three RBI doubles, the first from Chad Maddox who set the Rascals' franchise record for doubles with the 67th of his career.

Zach Robertson spread out seven hits over six scoreless innings while striking out five in his fifth win against no losses.

River City added another run in the fourth and two more in the fifth on a Jason Patton two-run homer for a 9-0 lead before the Miners (31-18) scored four in the seventh off reliever Jason Pankau and added a single run in the eighth off Brandon Cunniff before Derrick Miramontes closed the door in the ninth. The Rascals look for their first ever sweep in Marion tomorrow with first pitch set for 5:05. All-star Zach Starter will start for River City tomorrow.
