
Wild Things Fall to Kings 2-1

Washington, PA - The Washington Wild Things (37-38), presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, dropped the first game of a three-game set to the Kalamazoo Kings 2-1 at CONSOL Energy Park Tuesday night.
Brett Grandstrand started the scoring in the third inning, when with one out, he slammed a solo shot over the left field wall (his third of the season), giving Washington the early lead in the game.
Kalamazoo tied the game in the sixth inning when Brendan Murphy's sacrifice fly drove in Brandon Anderson. And Jeff Grose, who reached on a triple, scored for the Kings in the top of the eighth on a wild pitch, giving the Kings a 2-1 lead.
Brooks Dunn (1-5), who took the loss for Washington, went seven and two-thirds innings, allowing two (earned) runs on six hits, striking out four. Rick Austin and Joe D'Alessandro pitched in relief.
The Wild Things and Kings meet for game two of this three-game set Wednesday when first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Airtime on WJPA 95.3 FM is 6:55 p.m. J.J. Hollenbeck is scheduled to take the hill for Washington. Wednesday is Silver Sluggers night; members receive a Car Visor CD Holder and are invited to stroll the bases after the game, and all fans can enjoy the dollar hot dogs and burgers at CONSOL Energy Park.
