
Wild Things fall to Florence Friday night

WASHINGTON, PA - The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, fell by a score of 5-3 to the Florence Freedom Friday night at Falconi Field in front of a sell-out crowd of 3,402.
The Wild Things (9-6) opened up a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning when Pat O'Brien doubled home Mike Arbinger, who had doubled. O'Brien advanced to third and then scored on T.J. Graves' groundout.
Florence, however, responded with two runs in the third to tie the game, 2-2, and then took the lead for good in the seventh.
After two outs, Jeremy Ison delivered with a two-run double. Mike Galloway then followed with a single that scored Ison.
Washington added one run in the eighth when Ryan McGraw tripled to the right-center field gap, scoring Matt Swope. McGraw tried to stretch the hit into an inside-the-park homer, but was thrown out at home plate.
Jason Bowlin pitched six plus innings and struck out six batters to earn the win for Florence (8-7). Mike Grady took the loss for the Wild Things.
Washington will travel to Troy, Illinois to take on the Ohio Valley Red Coats for a three game set starting Friday and return home to face the Kalamazoo Kings, Tuesday, June 14 at 7:05 p.m.
