Wild Things Announce the return of Mike Arbinger

Washington, Pa - The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, announced the re-signing of OF Mike Arbinger Tuesday.

Arbinger, a Toledo, OH native, has signed a contract with the Wild Things for the 2007 season. Arbinger hit .273 with eight home runs and 53 RBI for the Wild Things in 2006. This will be his fourth season with the Wild Things.

The left-handed hitter holds several records for the Wild Things, including a record number of starts (279) for Washington, where he has chalked up 1,069 at bats; he leads the club in hits (317), runs (203), doubles (78), RBI (192), and walks (151).

Arbinger was selected to the Frontier League All-Star game in 2005 when he won the Home Run Derby and was selected the game MVP.

"When you ask other managers in the Frontier League what hitter they fear most, Mike Arbinger's name always comes up," said John Massarelli, field manager for the Wild Things.

Arbinger is fourth all-time in the Frontier League with 78 doubles; he is third all-time in the league with 18 triples and 10th all-time with 151 walks.

Arbinger was originally signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates as an undrafted free agent out of Ohio University in 2002. He played for the CGL Pirates where he was named to the Gulf Coast All-Star Team and for Williamsport (A) of the New York-Penn League where he assisted them to winning the 2003 title.

The Wild Things will play open their sixth season in the Frontier League in May of 2007. The team has advanced to post-season action an unprecedented five consecutive years. The team is currently accepting deposits for 2007 season ticket packages at the box office.
