Wenatchee Wild News Release

Flint, MI. - The Wenatchee Wild concluded up a two-game set against the Michigan Warriors at Perani Arena in Flint, Michigan Saturday night, using a 2 goal second period to propel themselves to a 4-2 win and the weekend sweep.

The Wild grabbed the lead in the latter stages of the first period, as Trey Bradley (Tampa, Florida) tipped a shot over the right shoulder of the Michigan goaltender. Parker Tuomie (Biemerhaven, Germany) and Troy Loggins drew assists at 13:56, giving Wenatchee a 1-0 lead. The Warriors came right back and tied the game on a goal by Connor Lyons, with Jon Farkas and Joshua Shellman getting the assists at 15:33, tying the game 1-1.

Joseph Kaszupski (Henderson, Nevada) scored for the Wild in the second period, firing a shot from the bottom on the right circle and into the top part of the net. The unassisted goal at 4:07 put Wenatchee back on top at 2-1. A power play goal stretched the lead at 11:29, as Loggins blasted a shot from the top of the right circle. Gadel Gumerov (Nizhnekamsk, Russia) and Matthew Nuttle (Marilla, New York) assisted, putting the Wild up 3-1.

Michigan's Wes Guenther wristed one home from out above the circles, bringing the Warriors to within one early in the third. Farkas assisted at 6:05, slicing the Wenatchee lead to 3-2. A five-minute major to Farkas gave the Wild an extended power play and Loggins used the opportunity to slip one through the goaltenders' pads for an unassisted power play goal at 14:18, putting Wenatchee back on top by two, at 4-2. The Wild would hold off Michigan the rest of the way, taking the 4-2 win and the sweep of the Warriors. "Good win for us" said Wenatchee Wild Head Coach Bliss Littler. "We battled through some injuries, some adversity tonight, overall it was kind of a gritty win for us." Littler went on, saying "We got good goaltending all weekend, good special teams; we were opportunistic when we had to be. This will make the flight home a little easier."

Wenatchee outshot Michigan 33-30. Gustaf Johansson (Uppsala, Sweden) made 28 saves for the Wild; Dillon Kelley had 29 stops for the Warriors. Wenatchee was 2-for-4 on the power play and 3-of-3 on the penalty kill.

Wenatchee is now 11-10-2, the Warriors are 11-7-6.

The Wild returns home for 4 games with Johnstown on November 30th (7:05pm PST), December 1st (5:05pm PST), 6th (7:05pm PST) and 7th (7:05pm PST). Individual and group game tickets for all home games are on sale now. Call 509.888.PUCK (7825).
