Wild Sinks Admirals in OT 3-2

DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Wild (34-30-7-2, 77 points) defeated the Milwaukee Admirals (41-25-4-3, 89 points) 3-2 in overtime on Sunday night in front of 4,672 fans at Wells Fargo Arena. Iowa forward Alex Tuch scored the game-winning goal 2:06 into overtime to help the Wild defeat the Admirals. Forwards Luke Kunin and Colton Beck also scored in the Iowa win. Wild goalie Steve Michalek (12-14-1) stopped 39 of 41 shots in the overtime victory. Admirals goalie Jonas Gunnarsson (3-6-3) stopped 22 of 25 shots in the loss. Forwards Vladislav Kamenev and Matt White each scored a goal for Milwaukee in the defeat. With a 3-1 win on Sunday afternoon, the Charlotte Checkers mathematically eliminated the Iowa Wild from playoff contention. Iowa welcomes Chicago for a two-game visit starting on Thursday at 7 PM.

Iowa opened the scoring 49 seconds into the first period. Forward Luke Kunin's fourth goal of the season gave the Wild an early 1-0 lead. Forward Christoph Bertschy helped set up the goal. Bertschy forced a turnover at the Milwaukee blueline and Kunin shot from the top of the right-wing circle to beat Gunnarsson. Less than a minute later, forward Colton Beck extended Iowa's lead to 2-0 at 1:36 of the opening frame. Beck's fifth goal of the season was assisted by Kunin. Kunin passed the puck from the slot to Beck who shot from the left-wing circle. At 14:09 of the first period, Milwaukee forward Vladislav Kamenev made it a 2-1 game, cutting the deficit in half. Kamenev's 20th goal of the season was set up by forwards Mike Liambas and Yakov Trenin.

At 18:29 of the second period, Milwaukee forward Matt White scored his 14th goal of the season, tying the game 2-2. The goal was set up by forwards Trevor Smith and Trenin. The cross-ice pass beat Michalek on the glove side.

After a scoreless third period, Iowa forward Alex Tuch scored his 17th goal of the season 2:06 into overtime. The goal was unassisted and made it a 3-2 final score in favor of the Wild.

The Wild concludes its 2016-17 home schedule with a pair of games against the Chicago Wolves, starting on Thursday, April 13th for Health and Wellness night, presented by Amerigroup. The first 1,500 fans get an Iowa Wild water bottle, sponsored by WHO Radio and Amerigroup. Fans that bring a Subway receipt can purchase a ticket for $5.00.

Iowa plays its final regular season game on Friday, April 14th at 7 PM with the Chicago Wolves. Fans may enjoy a $2.00 Beer Night, presented by 100.3 The Bus. For fans 21 and over, Barefoot Wine will be running a drink special - Barefoot Cran-Peach Spritzer available at the Barefoot / New Amsterdam Bar. The Subway Combo Pack is also available, starting at $12 fans can purchase a ticket, hot dog, soda and special Subway Deal. The first 1,500 fans will be handed an Iowa Wild team poster.
