Goaltender Jack Campbell Named CCM/AHL Player of the Week
April 10, 2017 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Ontario Reign News Release
Ontario, CA - The Ontario Reign, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that goaltender Jack Campbell has been named the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the week ending April 9, 2017.
Campbell allowed only one goal on 58 shots in two starts last weekend, guiding the Reign to a home-and-home sweep of their rivals in the San Diego Gulls and helped the Reign clinch a berth in the 2017 Calder Cup Playoffs.
On Friday night, the Port Huron, Michigan, native earned his fifth shutout of the season, stopping all 30 shots faced in a 4-0 win at San Diego. The victory locked up the Reign's second consecutive postseason berth and the 18 trip to the Calder Cup Playoffs by the Kings' top affiliate in the last 19 seasons.
At Citizens Business Bank Arena on Saturday, Campbell provided 27 saves for his league-leading 31 win as the Reign defeated the Gulls, 3-1.
Campbell, 25, appeared in a career-high 51 games for the Reign this season with a record of 31-14-0, 2.47 goals-against average and .915 save percentage. He ranks second in minutes played (3,012), third in saves (1,337) and tied for second with five shutouts. In 173 career regular-season AHL appearances with Ontario and Texas, the fifth-year netminder is 87-57-21 with a 2.69 goals-against average, .910 save percentage and 14 shutouts. He was selected in the first round (11 overall) by Dallas in 2010 and appeared in two NHL contests, including one with the Kings earlier this season.
