Laredo Lemurs News Release

Laredo, TX -   The Laredo Lemurs (31-20) see Jimmy Mojica score from third on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth to beat the El Paso Diablos (13-40) 5-4 on Thursday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.

With the game tied at four going into the bottom of the ninth, the Diablos brought in Carlos Monsterios to try to keep it tied.

John Allen led off the ninth as a pinch hitter for Garrett Buechele.  Allen walked in his first at-bat in eight games to give the Lemurs a base runner.  Allen dealing with a hamstring injury was replaced with Garrett Rau at first.

Jimmy Mojica then came to the plate and hit a ground ball to third.  The third baseman flipped the ball to second to get the first out the inning and Mojica was safe at first on the double play attempt.

Harrison Kain followed up with a walk to put runners at first and second with one out.  Sawyer Carroll then grounded out to move the runners up to second and third.

After that John Alonso came to the plate and on the second pitch of his at-bat Monasterios threw a breaking ball in the dirt that got away from the catcher, giving Mojica the opportunity to score from third and give the Lemurs the walk-off wild pitch win.

Mark Haynes (4-0) was on the mound for the Lemurs in the ninth to earn the win.  He went a full inning, giving up a hit, and striking out three.

Carlos Monsterios (0-6) took the loss, going two thirds of an inning, giving up the winning run, with two walks.

The Lemurs are on their longest home stand of the season with the El Paso Diablos, and St. Paul Saints coming to town through July 17th.

Single game tickets, season tickets, suite rentals, and group packages are on sale now.  For more information, call the Lemurs' office at 956-7LEMURS or visit the Lemurs' official website at www.laredolemurs.com.
