Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
BOSSIER CITY, LA - This weekend at the CenturyTel Center, it's a pair of home games for your Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs! The âBugs will take on the Wichita Thunder on Friday night and the Mississippi RiverKings on Saturday night, with both games set to begin at 7:05 pm. Only five home games remain in the regular season, so don't miss out on these two chances to catch the Mudbugs at the CTC.
Friday night will be Bossier-Shreveport's final meeting of the year with Wichita, presented by Dodge. The Mudbugs are 4-0 against the Thunder this season, but three of those four games have been decided by just one goal. The teams last met this past Sunday when the âBugs came away with a 4-1 victory at the Kansas Coliseum. All four former Thunder players on this year's Mudbugs got into the act in that game: Joe Blaznek had a goal and an assist, Travis Clayton and two assists, Todd Paul scored a goal and Jon Horrell made 18 saves to earn the win in goal. The âBugs will be looking to sweep their regular season series with Wichita for the second straight year on Friday night.
We will also be welcoming to Friday night's game the Louisiana Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. This week is MS Awareness Week, where the MS society encourages everyone to get involved with the fight against MS. The MS Society will be set up on the concourse during the game, so stop by to find out how you can help. Visit www.mslouisiana.org for more information.
Saturday night will be another key Northeast Division battle with the rival Mississippi RiverKings, presented by Christus Schumpert Health System. Mississippi came to CenturyTel Center on Tuesday night and handed the Mudbugs a 4-1 defeat to extend their division lead to five points over Bossier-Shreveport. That game was tied at one after two periods until Mississippi broke out for three goals in the third to get the win. The âBugs still have five more regular season meetings with the âKings to make up the difference though, and Saturday night will be their chance to earn a big home win and get right back on Mississippi's heels in the Northern Conference playoff race. The Mudbugs are 5-2 against the RiverKings this year heading into this big Saturday night showdown.
Saturday will also be our 2009 4-H night, when hundreds of club members from throughout the state and the region will be in attendance at the game. Join us in welcoming these 4-H clubs from all over the Ark-La-Tex as the Mudbugs take on Mississippi.
Individual seats for both games are on sale through Ticketmaster at 318-741-9700 or at the CenturyTel Center main box office. Group tickets and Mudbugs flex ticket packages are available at the Mudbugs office, so call 318-752-BUGS or stop by the team office inside CenturyTel Center to get yours today!
