PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League announced Thursday that NHL parent club the Phoenix Coyotes has recalled goaltender Joel Gistedt to the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League. It is the fourth time this season Gistedt has been recalled to the Coyotes' AHL affiliate.
Gistedt, in his first professional season in North America, has posted an 8-13-1 record with a 4.34 goals against average (GAA) and a .868 save percentage (SV%) in 25 games with Arizona this season. After collecting just four wins in his first 15 starts, the 20-year-old netminder is 4-2-1 in his last seven appearances with a 3.67 GAA and a .896 SV%.
During yesterday's NHL trade deadline, Sundogs parent club the Phoenix Coyotes traded backup netminder Mikael Tellqvist and recalled Rampage goaltender Josh Tordjman, resulting in Gistedt's reassignment to the AHL club Thursday.
The native of Uddevalla, Sweden was selected in the second round (36th overall) by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
