LAREDO, Texas - The Wichita Wingnuts clinched their fifth straight series victory as they held on for a 4-3 win over the Laredo Lemurs Tuesday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.

Laredo (17-15) scored first in the third, grabbing their first lead of the series. After wiggling out of bases loaded situations in the first and second innings, Alex Boshers (3-2) could not do it for a third straight frame, as J.D. Pulfer plated two with a single, and Alvaro Rondon added another run with a single of his own to make it 3-0.

Wichita (18-13) came back with their first run of the contest in the next half inning, as Brent Dean doubled Dustin Geiger home to cut the deficit to two.

The Wingnuts then took the lead and chased Danny Moskovits (2-2) in the fifth. With two outs, Brent Clevlen singled and T.J. Mittelstaedt walked to start the rally. Wichita then collected three straight run-producing singles, as Geiger, Richard Prigatano, and Harrison Kain all brought in runs to give the visitors a 4-3 advantage.

Boshers settled in after giving up the three unearned runs in the third, and had a couple of double plays turned behind him as he lasted a career-high tying six innings for the second time in his three starts to earn his second quality start.

The Wingnuts bullpen once again got the job done behind their starter, as Chase Johnson and Chad Nading worked scoreless seventh and eighth frames, respectively, before Frankie Reed slammed the door to earn his sixth save in the ninth.

The win for Boshers is his third in as many starts since moving from the bullpen to the starting rotation, and gives Wichita its fifth straight series victory after having lost or split their first five series of 2016.

The Wingnuts go for a sweep of their three-game set with the Lemurs Wednesday night at Uni-Trade Stadium. Wichita will turn to right-hander Ryan Kussmaul (0-0, 0.00), while Laredo has yet to announce it's starting pitcher for Wednesday's series finale. First pitch is set for 7:05, and the game can be heard on 1410 AM KGSO, as well as on TuneIn.
