Wichita, KS - Wichita (13-17-4) jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back, blowing out the Quad City Mallards (16-9-7) by the final score of 7-1 Friday night at INTRUST Bank Arena. Six players recorded two or more points including Jesse Dudas who finished with four to lead the way. The Thunder improves to 2-0-0 against the Mallards this season. Wichita will host Quad City once more down the stretch.

Matt Summers got things started less than six minutes into the contest after he received a pass across the slot and roofed it past Ty Rimmer with assists from Jesse Dudas and Andrew Martens. At the 11 minute mark, Mike Wilson increased the lead to 2-0 as he popped a rebound over Rimmer like a pitching wedge from just in front of the goal mouth.

The Thunder continued the onslaught in the second period, scoring 53 seconds in. Matt Robinson's shot from between the circles banked off the end wall right to Jon Booras and he slammed it home to make it 3-0. Quad City committed three consecutive penalties and the Thunder finally cashed in on the third when Michael Monfredo was sent off for cross checking. Dudas fired a one-timer from the blue line with a defender in his face that got through traffic and past Rimmer at 10:31 to make it 4-0. The Mallards got one back less than a minute later as Gergo Nagy caught a pass at the left side of the net and beat David Brown. Booras scored his second of the period at 17:07 after he poked home his own rebound and gave the Thunder a 5-1 lead after two periods. Rimmer was given the hook as Nick Niedert got the call for the final 20 minutes.

At the start of the third, Wichita was forced to kill off three-straight penalties before putting the game out of reach. Dudas scored his second power play goal of the evening midway through with a wrist shot from the left circle. RG Flath rounded out the scoring at 14:02 as he beat a defender down the left wing and went five-hole on Niedert to make it 7-1.

Wichita stopped a two-game home losing streak with the victory and won its first Friday home game of the season. Dudas had two goals and two assists in the contest while Andrew Martens (3a), and Booras (2g, 1a) had three points. Robinson (2a), Tomas Klempa (2a), and Mike Wilson (1g, 1a) had two points on the night. Summers scores for the second game in a row against Quad City and has five points in the last three games.
