
Wichita Adds Emergency Back-Up as Game Three Looms Tonight

Fort Wayne, IN (May 3rd) - The Wichita Thunder hit the road tonight, looking to get back into the CHL Finals after dropping the first two games at home. For insurance, Wichita has added goaltender Scott Darling to the roster prior to Game 3.
Darling (6-6, 230-lbs) is making his second stint with the Thunder. He was called-up prior to Wichita's game against Arizona on January 18th. Darling appeared in one game for the Thunder, losing 5-2 to the Texas Brahmas on January 21st and made 21 saves on 25 shots in the loss. Darling was released on January 26th and rejoined the Mississippi RiverKings for the rest of the year. Darling was a sixth round draft pick of the Phoenix Coyotes in 2007, taken 153rd overall. The second-year pro appeared in 18 games for Mississippi, going 7-10-1 with a 3.25 GAA and a save percentage of .892 before his first call-up to Wichita. Darling also received call-ups this season to the Charlotte Checkers and the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL.
Prior to turning pro, Darling attended the University of Maine, where he appeared in 54 games. In his two seasons as a Black Bear from 2008-10, he was 25-20-6 with a 2.93 GAA and a save percentage of .893. He turned pro in 2010, signing with the Louisiana IceGators of the SPHL.
Wichita and Fort Wayne meet tonight in Game 3 of the 2012 President's Cup Finals. The Thunder all-time in Game 3 during the playoffs are 11-9, but have lost both Game 3's during this post-season to Texas and Rio Grande Valley. Wichita finished the regular season 20-11-2 on the road and has gone 2-3 in the post-season away from the Air Capital. All-time, Wichita is 20-34 away from home in the playoffs.
Kevin Young and Kevin Seibel each have point-streaks heading into tonight. Young has recorded points in his last four playoff games (5 assists) while Seibel has three points (1g, 2a) in his last three games. Thomas Beauregard has two goals and one assist against the Komets so far in the Finals. The line of Chris Auger, Mike Vaskivuo and Colin Chaulk have combined for five goals, nine assists and both game-winners in the first two games of the series.
