WhiteWings Finalize Spring Training Roster

HARLINGEN - The North American League's Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings announced on Monday the remaining players under contract for the start of spring training. Welington Dotel re-ups for another season in the Valley with the Wings while Leo Delgado and Brandon Decker join the squad as free agents.

Dotel returns to the Wings after appearing in 43 games last season. Dotel joined the Wings after four and a half seasons in the Seattle Mariners organization where he appeared for four different Mariner affiliates. Dotel hit .357 for the Wings last season while slugging .509 in 43 games.

Delgado joins the WhiteWings in 2011 after playing previously in the Arizona Winter League. Delgado suited up for Team Mexico as an outfielder and the lefty hit .372 with 9 RBI's and only three strikeouts.

Decker will fill out the Wings infielder and joins the squad after spending last season in the Midwest League (A) where he hit .253 in 20 games. The season before Decker suited up in the Pioneer League hitting .341 in 52 games. Decker also played four seasons at San Diego State.

The WhiteWings open the season with a four game series against the Edinburg Roadrunners at Edinburg Baseball Stadium May 25-through-28. The WhiteWings host the new McAllen Thunder in their home opening series from May 29-through-June 1.
