Edinburg, Texas- In the final exhibition game the Wings fell behind early when Carlton Salters hit a single to drive in Maeda early for the first run of the game in the first inning. The Roadrunners showcased their offense as they won their first and last exhibition game of the year. Bobby O'Neill got his second start of spring training where he went three innings and allowed seven hits fanning two; the WhiteWings pitched a total of eight pitchers with a combined, 15 hits and 12 runs allowed.
Wesley Jones had a long day at the plate going 0-for-3 with a walk after his three hit performance in Friday night's exhibition game. The Roadrunners starter Kyle Wilson pitched a dandy throwing three innings striking out three and only allowing one hit.
Finally in the fourth inning the Wings got on the board with Thomas Shull coming around to score on the Bowden RBI single. After that the offense went cold only tacking on two more runs as the afternoon grew even longer for the Wings.
Carlton Salters lead the charge for the Edinburg Roadrunners going 2-for-3 on the day, collecting two RBI's along with a single and a double. In the seventh is where Edinburg broke out the bats scoring seven and was capped off by Austin Fraker's two run blast.
With the final score 12-3 in favor of Edinburg, the Wings will now head back to Harlingen Field to prepare for Thursday night's season opener versus the San Angelo Colts where Antony Bello will be our Opening Day starter. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
