
Roadrunners Wins Big Against Whitewings

EDINBURG, Texas- the Edinburg Roadrunners defeated the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings by score of 12-3 on Tuesday afternoon at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
Buyna Maeda went 3-for-4 with two doubles and scored a run to pace the Roadrunners offense, while Carlton Salters drove in two runs with a double.
The Roadrunners took an early 1-0 lead, when Salters hit a single that drove in Maeda for the early lead.
The lead grew for the Roadrunners in the second inning when Bobby Rinard laced a double to left field, which increased it to 3-0.
The Whitewings offense scored in the fourth and fifth innings to cut deficit at 5-2 with RBIs from Jonny Bowden and Thomas Schull.
The Roadrunners added runs in the third and fourth innings, which made it 5-2, but in the seventh inning the offense belted out 7 runs capped off by an Austin Fraker two-run homerun which made it 12-2 at that point.
Rio Grande Valley added a run in the ninth inning to end the scoring on a hit by pitch RBI by Michael Garcia.
The winning pitcher for the Roadrunners was Elroy Urbina, while Bobby O'Neill was saddled with the loss for the Whitewings.
Roadrunners home opener is on Saturday, June 1st at 7:05 as they host the Fort Worth Cats at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
