West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

COMSTOCK PARK - Kyle Peter broke out of his 0-for-18 slump Wednesday night as he went 4-for-6, including the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 13th to give the Whitecaps a 5-4 victory.

With the game tied 4-4 in the bottom of the 13th inning, Audy Ciriaco led off with a single. Kody Kaiser walked and Roger Tomas singled to the pitcher on a sacrifice bunt try where pitcher Blair Erickson made no throw to any base, setting the stage for Peter with the bases loaded.

The game involved three lead changes with the Whitecaps on top 4-3 until Beloit shortstop Chris Cates ripped a double to center field to score Ozzie Lewis in the top of the seventh to knot the game at four apiece.

The Whitecaps had a chance to win it in the ninth with the bases loaded, but Jordan Newton popped out to second base and Joe Bowen, just activated from the D.L., struck out to send it to extra innings.

RHP Rudy Darrow improved to 3-0 on the season after pitching a scoreless top of the 13th inning after relievers Wilton Garcia and Andrew Hess blanked the Snappers over 5.1 innings.

Erickson (0-3) suffered the loss for Beloit as he did not record an out in the 13th inning. RHP Brian Kirwan started the game for the Snappers and gave up four runs (three earned) in 7.0 innings with two strikeouts.

LHP Manny Miguelez started for West Michigan and gave up four runs on six hits in 6.2 innings for the no decision.

Beloit 3B Garrett Olson went 3-for-6 with a run scored while CF Joe Benson hit a solo home run in the fifth inning, his second blast of the year.

Ciriaco went 3-for-6 with a run and RBI while Tomas and Newton each had two hits for the Whitecaps.
