Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

SOUTH BEND, IN -- The South Bend Silver Hawks scored nine runs in the fourth inning and cruised to a 10-2 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Wednesday night at Coveleski Stadium. Taylor Harbin had a pair of hits in the big inning, including a two-run homer to pace the offense. Christian Beltre pitched six scoreless innings and struck out five for the win.

Wisconsin (6-10) had a chance to take the lead in the first inning. Maximo Mendez, making his Timber Rattler debut, tripled to lead-off the game. Beltre retired the next three batters without allowing Mendez to score.

Timber Rattler starting pitcher Edward Paredes retired the first nine hitters he faced. But, he did not make it out of the fourth inning.

Evan Frey started the inning for South Bend with a triple. Harbin reached on an infield single off the glove of Paredes that kept Frey at third base. Mike Mee singled into left and Frey scored for a 1-0 lead. Paredes struck out the next batter, but Aaron Hanke followed with a two-run double. Paredes got the second out of the inning with another strikeout. But, the floodgates opened after that.

Back-to-back walks loaded the bases. Gerardo Bustamante's infield single knocked in a run. Frey got his second at bat of the inning and singled to left to drive in a pair of runs. An error on the play allowed a third run to score and drive Paredes from the game with Wisconsin down 7-0.

Harbin greeted Rattler reliever Ryan Moorer with a home run to left field and the score was 9-0. Harbin hit a home run in each game of the series for the Silver Hawks (5-14) and was 7-for-13 with six RBI in the three-game sweep of the Rattlers.

South Bend tacked on a run in the fifth on an RBI double by Hanke to go up 10-0.

Calvin Beamon singled with two out in the eighth inning to drive in a run for Wisconsin. The Rattlers got their final run of the night on pinch-hit, two-out RBI single by Blake Ochoa.

The Rattlers are off on Thursday before returning to action on Friday night as they begin a 6-game home stand. Wisconsin welcomes the Beloit Snappers to Time Warner Cable Field on Friday night. Nathan Adcock (0-1, 2.12) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. The Snappers send David Bromberg (0-2, 6.16) to the mound. Game time is 6:35pm.
