Whitecaps Conclude Rough Series with Loss

COMSTOCK PARK - Quad Cities continued to play well at Fifth Third Ballpark, where the Swing has won 9 of its last 7 games, including an 8-4 victory over the Whitecaps on Monday.

The Swing outscored the ‘Caps 30-21 in the four game series of which Quad Cities won three games.

Four different Quad Cities batters: Antone DeJesus, Daryl Jones, Jared Schweitzer and Oliver Marmol had three hits each.

After West Michigan grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by Michael Bertram, DeJesus delivered a two-run single in the top of the second to put the Swing in front, 2-1.

Bertam finished 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI singles.

Scott Sizemore went 3-for-5 for the ‘Caps and Gorkys Hernandez went 2-for-5. Each scored a run.

Jeff Gerbe allowed five runs on nine hits in just 2.2 innings of work in his second start since returning form the disabled list last Wednesday. It was Gerbe's first loss of the season.

Kelvin Cedano threw four inning of relief and allowed just one Quad Cities run on five hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
