December 28, 2018 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
Saint John Sea Dogs News Release
James White led the Sea Dogs to a 6-1 victory over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Friday night at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre. The Sea Dogs improve to 6-26-2-1 and overtake the Titan in the standings who are now 6-27-0-1.
The Sea Dogs came out firing to start the first period scoring just two minutes in when James White sniped the top corner to give the Sea Dogs the lead. Just over five minutes later William Poirier would extend the lead to 2-0 when he scored his eighth of the year snapping home a pass from Burt at 7:44. Less than two minutes later James White tapped the puck in on a pass from behind the net from Aiden MacIntosh for his second of the game to make it 3-0 Saint John. The fun wouldn't stop there as newly acquired Sea Dog Alex Drover netted his first in a blue sweater when he snapped home an Anthony Boucher rebound at 11:40 increasing the lead to 4-0. Mark Grametbauer was replaced by Tyriq Outen. The Titan thought they had a goal in the last few seconds of the period during a power play but the goal was reversed due to being offside. Saint John lead shots in the period 14-6.
The Titan took to the penalty kill in the second period before Charlie DesRoches was called for holding to make it four-on-four. With both teams down a man Nicholas Deakin-Poot fired home a rebound to make it 5-0 Sea Dogs at 9:14 of the second. The Titan killed off a William Champagne slashing but the pressure kept coming as Cajkovic gained the zone and dished a behind the back pass to James White who sniped home his third of the game for the hat-trick and the 6-0 lead. Anderson MacDonald was awarded a penalty shot at 19:29 when Cajkovic brought him down to save the breakaway. MacDonald failed to convert on the penalty shot. Ten seconds later the Titan got on the board when Mathieu Desgagnes went high glove side on Alex D'Orio to make it 6-1.
The third period was a little more subdued from both sides with neither adding any more goals. Sea Dogs continued the pressure though and lead shots in the frame 13-6, for a game total of 41-18.
Alex D'Orio made 17 saves for the win. Outen and Grametbauer combined for 35 stops in the loss.
