Brandon, Manitoba -- The Brandon Wheat Kings brought the curtain up on their 2004-2005 Western Hockey League season Friday night with a dramatic 4-3 victory over the visiting Regina Pats.

Tim Konsorada's goal with just 20 seconds remaining in regulation time lifted Brandon to the win before over 4,900 fans at the Keystone Centre.

Konsorada is coming off an injury shortened 2003-04 season that saw him miss four months of action after undergoing shoulder surgery in September. The 5-year WHL veteran finished the night with a goal and assists on goals by veteran Ryan Stone and Eric Fehr. Jeff Topilko also scored for the Wheat Kings, who outshot Regina to the tune of 32-28.

Terrance Delaronde, Jon Bubnick and Brent Hill replied for the Pats, who host Brandon Saturday night in Regina.

Friday's win improved Brandon's record to 9-2-0 in it's last eleven home openers.

Brandon's next home game is Saturday, October 2nd vs. Red Deer. The first 3,000 fans in attendance will receive a free fridge magnet schedule compliments of Rogers Wireless.
