Brandon, Manitoba - The Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings released eight players Sunday night following their annual Intrasquad Game at Westman Communications Group Place.

Following is a list of the players let go Sunday night:

In Monday's annual Intrasquad game, veteran Mark Stone scored three times including the game winner as the Whites built up a 3-0 lead and then hung on for a 5-4 victory over Team Black.

Stone teamed up with linemates Scott Glennie and Shayne Wiebe to score ten points to pace the Whites, who were outshot 35-33. Brayden Schenn scored once and set up another in a losing cause for Team Black.

With Sunday's cuts, the Wheat Kings have trimmed their pre-season roster to thirty-five players - five goalkeepers, 12 defencemen and eighteen forwards. Of those, six players will soon be off to their respective National Hockey League training camps (Michael Ferland-Calgary, Brodie Melnychuk-Anaheim, David Toews-New York Islanders, Glennie-Dallas, Stone-Ottawa and Schenn-Los Angeles Kings).

The Wheat Kings will kick off their 2010 pre-season schedule this weekend with a home and home series with the Pats, beginning Friday night in Regina. Brandon will host the rematch the following night. Tickets to both of Brandon's pre-season home games are on sale at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at ticketmaster.ca

Speaking of tickets, the WHL club has announced that 2,305 Season Tickets have been sold for the upcoming season. Fans wanting to order the most affordable season ticket in the WHL are urged to contact the Wheat Kings at 726-3535.
