Brandon Wheat Kings News Release

Brandon, Manitoba - The Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings have announced that Wednesday night's Standing Room Only Crowd of 6,022 at Westman Communications Group Place has set a Single Game Attendance Record.

Wednesday's crowd shatters the old mark of 5,957, which was established during the WHL playoffs against the visiting Calgary Hitmen in April, 2005.

With one home game remaining in the 2009-10 regular season, the Eastern Division leading Wheat Kings have also eclipsed the All Time Single Season Attendance Record by drawing 170,832 fans through the turnstiles this winter.

The Wheat Kings, who close out the regular season this weekend with a home and home series with the Regina Pats, are currently averaging 4,881 fans per home game in 2009-10.

Brandon's final home game is Saturday night - Meyers Norris Penny Fan Appreciation Night - and will feature the presentation of this year's Wheat King Award Winners.

Hardware will be given out before, during and at the conclusion of the game so fans are encouraged to come early and stay late as the Wheat Kings bring the curtain down on what has been a great regular season and what should be an exciting playoff.

Tickets to Saturday's game go back on sale first thing Thursday morning at the Keystone Centre box office (located in the Pioneer Lounge), by calling 726-3555 or online at www.ticketmaster.ca

Speaking of tickets, the WHL club would also like to remind fans that tickets to games one and two of their best of 7 opening round playoff series are on sale now. The two games will be played Friday and Saturday, March 19th and 20th at Westman Place.
