
Americans Subdue T-Birds

Kennewick, March 10, 2010 - The Tri-City Americans defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-1 Wednesday night at the Toyota Center in Kennewick.
Tri-City outshot Seattle 19-11 in a scoreless first period.
The Americans took a 1-0 lead at 1:05 of the second period on a goal by Jordan Messier. Brett Plouffe and Brendan Shinnimin had the assists. Tri-City (46-21-1-2) extended the lead to 2-0 at 4:03 of the second on a goal by Messier. Jarret Toll and Justin Feser were credited with the assists.
Seattle (18-39-7-5) cut the Tri-City lead to one goal at 18:18 of the second on a power-play goal by Tyler Alos. Brendan Rouse sent the puck from the right point to Brenden Dillon at the left point. Dillon put a slap shot on goal that Tri-City goalie Alexander Pechurkskiy stopped. The puck rebounded to the goalies left where Alos got to it. Alos lifted the puck over a sprawling Pechurkskiy for his seventh goal of the year.
Seattle outshot Tri-City 11-10 in the second period but the Americans led 29-22 in total shots after two periods.
Feser scored a power-play goal at 6:42 of the third period to put the Americans back in front by two goals. Johnny Lazo and Shinnimin had assists on the goal.
Tri-City outshot Seattle 17-5 in the third period and 46- 27 in the game.
Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard stopped 42 of 46 shots and his record is now 15-33-7-5.
Pechurskiy made 26 saves on 27 shots to get the win and improve his record to 12-9-0-1.
The T-Birds travel to Everett to face the Silvertips at 7:35 p.m. at Comcast Arena. They take on the Portland Winterhawks at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday at ShoWare Center. They finish out the weekend against the Vancouver Giants at 5:05 p.m. at ShoWare Center.
T-Birds single game tickets for the 2009-10 season are available online at the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday game days at 10 a.m. and Sunday game days at noon.
