Wheat Kings Double up Hurricanes

Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, MB. - A wild night at Westoba Place Saturday night as the Brandon Wheat Kings scored an impressive 8-4 victory over the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes.
Luka Burzan scored five times - two in the first, two more in the second and another into an empty net in the final minutes - and set up another as the Wheat Kings improved to 3-0 on the season.
Playing their first game in a week, the Wheat Kings came out flying in the first, jumping out to a quick 3-0 lead and they never let up in the second, scoring four more to grab a commanding 7 goal advantage through forty minutes.
In the third, however, Lethbridge picked itself up off the mat and took advantage of some sloppy play and three Brandon penalties to pull to within three with over eight minutes to play.
It took a time out from Brandon coach David Anning to settle things down and then Burzan settled the issue when he wired a 180' shot into the empty net.
Connor Gutenberg, Cole Reinhart and Linden McCorrister rounded out the scoring for the Wheat Kings, who received a 41-save performance from netminder Jiri Patera.
Dylan Cozens scored once and set up two others for the Hurricanes, who defeated Regina by an identical 8-4 score on Friday night.
Currently ranked third in the Canadian Hockey League, the 'Canes are now 2-2-0 on the season.
The Wheat Kings weren't the only winners Saturday night because thanks to the eight goal outburst, the 3,800 fans in attendance will now have a chance to take advantage of the hockey club's exciting new ticket promotions.
Fans can receive 50% off their online pizza order at Dominos all day Sunday (when using the promo code WK5), ticket holders can visit any Heritage Co-op gas bar location all day Sunday and receive 6 cents off per litre of gasoline (maximum 100 litre fill).
As well, Burzan's powerplay goal in the final minute of the second made it a true Lucky 7 as those in attendance can now save $7 off their Dinner Buffet at Aaltos in the Canad Inns. Fans will have up to seven days to take advantage of this special offer.
Saturday's game was Brandon's only action of the weekend. The Wheat Kings will now begin preparing for their first extended road trip of the season when they return to the ice this week.
Brandon travels to Saskatchewan Thanksgiving weekend for games Friday and Saturday nights in Moose Jaw and Regina respectively.
Next home games for the Wheat Kings are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, October 12th and 13th against the Warriors and Swift Current Broncos.
Friday's game is "Drive Away Hunger Night", presented by Heritage Co-op.
Tickets to both games, not to mention all remaining home games go back on sale Monday morning at the Keystone Centre box office. Fans can also order online at keystonecentre.com or by calling (204) 726-3555.
