Brandon Wheat Kings News Release

Regina, SK. - The Brandon Wheat Kings completed a 3-game weekend sweep Sunday night with an 8-1 victory over the Pats in Regina.

With the win - Brandon's fourth in a row - the Wheat Kings moved four points up on second place Lethbridge in the Western Hockey League's Eastern Conference. The Hurricanes have one game in hand with less than two weeks to play.

Winners of back to back games against Moose Jaw on Friday and Saturday nights, the Wheat Kings jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead and never looked back.

Jayce Hawryluk and Ivan Provorov scored two goals each for the winners, who play four of their final five regular season games on home ice.

Tim McGauley, Reid Duke, Macoy Erkamps and Jordan Thomson rounded out the scoring for the Wheat Kings, who currently have the WHL's best road record at 22-10-3.

"Third game in three nights, Regina didn't play last night, that's always a bit of a concern and yet that's where I think that good start, the goal by Thomson put us out to an early lead," Brandon coach and general manager Kelly McCrimmon told CKLQ's post game show about getting off to a good start. "Things like that give you energy."

The Wheat Kings don't play again until Friday when they travel to Saskatoon to kick off a home and home series with the Blades. The two teams will return to Westman Place on Saturday.

Tickets to Saturday's game - presented by Tim Hortons - are on sale at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at keystonecentre.com.
