Connecticut Whale News Release
The Whale (35-28-5-3, 78 pts.) finished the home portion of their schedule this past week, defeating Springfield 4-3 at the XL Center on Friday and falling by a 1-0 score to Providence on Sunday, with a 3-2 road win over Bridgeport Saturday sandwiched in between. Connecticut finished its home slate 20-14-2-2 and was 15-4-1-2 in its last 22 home games. Cam Talbot was in net for both Whale wins last week, stopping a total of 59 out of 64 shots, and Brandon Segal scored both Friday and Saturday, extending his team season-high goal-scoring streak to six games, the longest for the franchise since the 2006-07 season.

* Division leaders are seeded 1, 2, and 3 in Conference standings. Eight teams in each conference qualify for the playoffs: the three division winners will be seeded first through third in order of points, and the next five teams in order of points will be seeded fourth through eighth.
This week:
The Whale's last five games of the regular season are all on the road, starting with a visit to Manchester this Friday (7:00 PM faceoff). Saturday night the Whale will travel to Glens Falls, NY to battle Adirondack (7:00), and Sunday finds the Whale in Springfield for a 3:00 game, as the Whale and Falcons wrap up their 12-game season series.
Friday, April 12 at the Manchester Monarchs (Verizon Wireless Arena), 7:00 p.m.
* The Monarchs (32-31-3-4, 71 pts.) are tied for tenth place in the Eastern Conference, four points out of a playoff spot and seven points behind the seventh-place Whale.
* Manchester won its last game, 4-3 in overtime, Sunday at Worcester, but that was only the Monarchs' third win in their last ten games.
* The Whale suffered a 9-2 road loss the first time they played the Monarchs this year December 8, but since then have won four straight against Manchester.
* Monarchs rookie Jordan Weal (14-18-32 in 57 GP) comes into the week on a three-game goal-scoring streak (3-2-5).

Saturday, April 13 at the Adirondack Phantoms (Glens Falls Civic Center), 7:00 p.m.
* The Whale have won only two of five previous games (2-2-1-0) against the 28-35-3-4 (63 pts.) Phantoms, and have posted an overtime loss and a regulation loss in two earlier visits to Glens Falls.
* Adirondack trails the field in the Eastern Conference, one point behind 14th-place St. John's and 12 points out of a playoff spot.
* Phantom points leader Jason Akeson (16-32-48 in 56 GP) has 5-2-7 in five games against the Whale this year.

Sunday, April 14 at the Springfield Falcons (MassMutual Center), 3:00 p.m.
* The Falcons (41-20-5-4, 91 pts.) have clinched the Northeast Division title, and are only two points behind the AHL-leading Providence Bruins in the Eastern Conference.
* This game finishes the 12-game I-91 rivalry series between the Whale and Falcons. Connecticut is 5-6-0-0 thus far in the series, 2-3-0-0 in Springfield.
* Former Whale defenseman Blake Parlett, who was acquired by Columbus from the New York Rangers last week in the Marian Gaborik trade, scored the power-play game-winner for Springfield in Sunday's 4-2 win in Portland and has at least a point in all three games he has played since joining the Falcons (1-2-3).
