Westchester Knicks News Release

SIOUX FALLS, April 8, 2016 - The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA Development League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, fell 112-105 to the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the Miami Heat affiliate, in game two of the 2016 NBA D-League Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. With the loss, the Knicks were eliminated from the 2016 NBA D-League Playoffs.

The Knicks struck first with back-to-back baskets and continued to hold the advantage for the first five minutes of the quarter. Sioux Falls held Westchester to a single-digit lead of nine before ending the quarter on a 15-4 run for a lead change. Despite outrebounding the Skyforce 13-4, the Knicks found themselves down by two after the first quarter.

An exciting second quarter saw neither team lead by more than two points, other than two small runs from the Knicks. With the lead changing nine times in the quarter, Westchester found the slight edge at the end in part by eight points from guard Jimmer Fredette, despite 13 first half turnovers from the visitors.

Westchester went up by as many as eleven points in the third before the momentum took a huge swing. Taking back the lead off a Briante Weber three with two minutes left in the quarter, the Skyforce went on a 18-2 run over the Knicks to completely shift the game. Heading into the final twelve minutes, Sioux Falls held an eight point advantage.

The Skyforce continued their run into the fourth, going 6-0 before Thanasis Antetokounmpo managed to lay one in for the Knicks. Sioux Falls ran up an 18-point advantage before Westchester retaliated, coming back within four points with 3:06 on the clock. That was as close as the Knicks would come though, as they ultimately fell 112-105 and faced elimination from the 2016 NBA D-League Playoffs.

Jimmer Fredette paced the Knicks with 26 points, adding five assists and four rebounds. Ra'Shad James provided 17 points from the bench, with four rebounds and two steals. Keith Wright and Travis Trice II added 13 points each, Trice also contributing eight assists. Thanasis Antetokounmpo rounded out the double digit scorers with 12 points and five rebounds.

Rodney McGruder led all scorers with 33 points. Janell Stokes finished with a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Briante Weber also contributed 21 points off the bench. DeAndre Liggins provided 10 assists, with eight points.

With the win, Sioux Falls will advance to the Eastern Conference Finals to face the Canton Charge.
