
Blue and Gomes Propel D-Fenders Past Bighorns

EL SEGUNDO - The D-Fenders beat the Reno Bighorns 127-116 tonight in El Segundo, CA.
Vander Blue (43 points, 10 rebounds) paced the D-Fenders (1-0). The 43 points is a D-Fenders postseason franchise record. Ryan Gomes finished with 26 points and 16 rebounds, while Josh Magette (18 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists) and Andre Ingram (17 points) also scored in double-figures for Los Angeles.
Erick Green (39 points) led the Bighorns (0-1). David Stockton (26 points, 11 assists), Cliff Hammonds (11 points) and Reggie Hearn (11 points) all reached double-digits for Reno.
Blue got started early with 10 points in the first quarter, to give the D-Fenders a 26-25 lead heading into the second. Blue really got going in the second quarter, scoring 18 points, while Ingram added 11 for the D-Fenders, who outscored the Bighorns 47-33 in the frame. At the half, Los Angeles led 73-58 behind 25 points from Blue.
The third quarter was tight, with the D-Fenders outscoring the Bighorns 31-28 behind 11 points from Blue. Los Angeles took a 104-86 lead into the final frame. Green caught fire for Reno in the fourth quarter, scoring 18 points as the Bighorns outscored the D-Fenders 30-23, but it was too little, too late.
The D-Fenders shot .449 from the field, compared to .439 for Reno. The D-Fenders connected on 27-of-32 free throw attempts, while the Bighorns shot 18-of-22.
Los Angeles heads to Reno to face the Bighorns in game two on Sunday, April 10th at 7pm PT.
