
West Virginia Power overcome Captains 7-3

(Eastlake, OH)--The West Virginia Power completed a four-game series sweep of the Captains with a 7-3 victory Sunday afternoon at Classic Park.
The Power (31-23) won for the seventh straight game, and kept the pressure on division-leader Lexington. West Virginia went into Sunday's game just three games out of first place.
The Captains (24-32) have lost five straight and will begin a four-game series Monday night at 7:05 in Lexington.
The Captains led 3-1 after three innings yesterday, but the Power sent eight men to the plate and scored two runs to tie it 3-3 in the fifth against starter Carlton Smith. Cody Bunkelman came on with the bases loaded and struck out Nate Yoho to end the inning.
In the sixth, Darren Ford's RBI single off Bunkleman (1-2) gave the Power the lead, 4-3. Three more in the eighth of Matt Loberg iced the deal for the Power.
The Captains had 13 hits, but stranded 15 runners.
Derek Miller (6-1) started and won for the Power. Ryan Marion finished with four scoreless innings to earn his first save.
In tonight's series opener at Lexington, righthander Frank Herrmann will start against Lexington's Raymar Diaz. In the second game of the series on Tuesday night, the Captains are scheduled to face Roger Clemens, who will be making a re-hab start for the the Legends.
