CHARLESTON, WV - The West Virginia Power will begin month two of the 2018 season on Tuesday, May 1, at Appalachian Power Park, as they open up a three-game set versus the Augusta GreenJackets, followed by a four-game series against the Hickory Crawdads. The Power are wrapping up a stretch of playing 15 of their last 18 games inside their friendly confines.

ABOUT THE GREENJACKETS: Augusta has won 11 of their last 12 games dating back to April 17. Their league-best 17-6 record has been catapulted by a stellar 11-3 road push in April. They have been led by starter Joey Marciano, who has accumulated a league-best 0.78 ERA to go along with a 2-0 record through 23 innings pitched in four games. Good pitching is the name of the game for the GreenJackets, who possess the third-lowest ERA in the South Atlantic League at 2.48.
ABOUT THE CRAWDADS: The Crawdads are 1-2 against the Power in 2018. Hickory comes into May sporting an 8-14 record. Melvin Novoa paces the team with a .358 batting average and 21 RBI through 18 games played. They are also guided offensively by speedster Eric Jenkins, who leads the SAL with 12 steals and is tied for second in the league with three triples. They sit in the middle of the league with a .242 team batting average, while their 4.35 ERA is in the bottom third amongst the SAL.
TWO FOR TUESDAY: Tuesday's 7:05 p.m. series opener with Augusta features two-for-one concession specials, presented by Rock 105. Fans can purchase two-for-one 16-ounce domestic beer cans as well as other selected concession items during the game.
PETS IN THE PARK: Power fans can bring their dogs, cats, snakes, spiders or any other animal to the park with the purchase of a $3.00 pet pass at the box office. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m., and gates open at 6 p.m.
COMIC CON: On Thursday night, Power fans are encouraged to come to the game dressed as their favorite comic book characters. Several members of the Ghostbusters will also be in attendence during the game amid a few Thirsty Thursday specials, presented by Rock 105. Fans can purchase $1.00 12-ounce beverages as well as $2.00 16-ounce cans. Gates open at 6 p.m. for this 7:05 p.m. showcase.
STAR WARS NIGHT: On Friday night, our Rebel Alliance is excited to have several costumed characters at the ballpark, while all fans are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Star Wars characters. There will also be exclusive Star Wars-themed merchandise available for sale at The Power Outlet. Finally, we will be featuring an intergalactic postgame fireworks show, presented by the West Virginia Lottery and Electric 102.7. Gates open at 6 p.m. for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
PIRATES AND PRINCESSES NIGHT: Join us for Saturday's evening of swashbuckling that includes a golden baseball giveaway to the first 1,000 fans in attendance. There will also be several stations set up around the ballpark with different pirates and princesses hosting various activities on the concourse. Fans are encouraged to dress up like their favorite pirates and princesses. First pitch is at 6:05 p.m. and gates will open at 5 p.m.
HARRY POTTER DAY: To celebrate the wonderful wizarding world of West Virginia, we will have several magical promotions throughout the afternoon. Be sure to stick around following Sunday's affair for a special movie screening of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Gates will open at 1 p.m. for the 2:05 p.m. contest. Sunday is also a Kidz Sunday Funday, where kids 12 and younger can play catch in the outfield prior to the game, run the bases after the final out, sponsored by SMART529 College Savings Program, and receive autographs from select Power players.
FAMILY BUCK NIGHT: Get $3.00 box seats or $1.00 general admission tickets for Monday's 7:05 p.m. clash with the Hickory Crawdads, with $1.00 hot dogs, popcorn and 12-ounce Pepsi products also available at the concession stands.
BROADCAST NOTE: Saturday's May 5 game against Hickory will be broadcast on 1410 AM The Light WSCW instead of The Jock 1300 and 1340 AM. It will still be available online at wvpower.com and via the TuneIn Radio App by searching "West Virginia Power Baseball Network" and the MiLB First Pitch App.
