BlueClaws SP Spencer Howard was named South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 28th.
Howard, the Phillies 2nd round pick last year from Cal-Poly, threw six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts in a win over Hagerstown on Thursday night at Municipal Stadium. So far this year, Howard is 2-1 with a 1.89 ERA over four starts. He has struck out 29 hitters and walked two over 29 innings pitched. He has stuck out at least six hitters in all four starts and allowed no more than one earned run in three of his four starts.

Howard is next scheduled to start on Thursday morning (10:30 am) for the BlueClaws in the final game of their series at Rome.
The BlueClaws return home on May 9th to start a seven-game homestand. Tickets are currently on sale by calling 732-901-7000 option 2 or online at BlueClaws.com.
