
Feel the Rhythm, RiverDogs Back in Town Tuesday for a Squeaky-Clean Week at the Joe

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston RiverDogs are coming home for a seven-game homestand and are feeling very Olympic this week. As part of their upcoming weeklong stint at Riley Park, the Charleston club will go for promotional gold on Jamaican Bobsled Night while making an ambitious goal to turn The Joe in to the "World's Cleanest Ballpark" as part of a symphony of sights and sounds on the banks of the Ashley River.
The RiverDogs return from a brief weekend series in the upstate and will welcome the Asheville Tourists (May 1-3) and Lexington Legends (May 4-7) in a week that features some of the most anticipated promotions of the year:
Tuesday, May 1, 7:05 p.m.: World's Cleanest Ballpark/Live & Local Tuesday: The RiverDogs finally clean up their act on the most pristine night in baseball history. The club will prepare with a thorough cleansing of The Joe leading into the homestand, and keep the grounds immaculate with extra ushers, bathroom attendants, squeaky-clean humor, and a peanut allergy friendly game presented by Charleston Allergy & Asthma on a night that promises a concourse so spotless, you could eat a Homewrecker Dog right off it.
Also enjoy another Live & Local Tuesday presented by 105.5 The Bridge featuring guest PA Shep Rose, one of the stars of Bravo's Southern Charm, a farmer's market on the concourse, live music, and local restaurant pop-up Rebel Taqueria featuring a menu that includes a San Fransisco treat, a Cali-braised chicken taco, the Tiajuana Dog, and a surprise dessert. Stop by the Landshark Shack for weekly drink specials.
Wednesday, May 2, 7:05 p.m.: Way Back Wednesday: The RiverDogs kick it back to their debut season, throwing back prices to $4 general admission seats presented by Harris Teeter and teal and purple uniforms from the 1994 campaign as part of a "Way Back Wednesday" presented by Kirkman Broadcasting and ABC News 4. The second Wednesday home game of the season will feature an appearance by former RiverDog Mitch Hilligoss, the Purdue product who set a still-standing South Atlantic League record with a 38-game hitting streak while with Charleston in 2007. Hilligoss will be available for pregame autographs and will throw out a ceremonial first pitch. Seniors eat free and run the bases postgame each Wednesday at Riley Park.
Thursday, May 3, 7:05 p.m.: Jamaican Bobsled Night/Thirsty Thursday: The RiverDogs celebrate the 25th anniversary of Cool Runnings, the story of Jamaica's first bobsled team to qualify for the Olympic Games, with a guest appearance by actor, comedian and Runnings star Doug E. Doug. The RiverDogs will hold onto their lucky eggs as they don specialty Team Jamaica jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game. Fans will have the chance to meet and greet with Sanka Coffie himself and the club will welcome in guest emcee, comedian, and the host of ESPN's Sportscenter on Snapchat, Cy Amundson. It's also a Budweiser Thirsty Thursday presented by 95SX featuring dollar brews in the Ashley View Pub as DJ Natty Heavy spins the hits all night long.
Friday, May 4, 7:05 p.m.: John Williams Fireworks: Enjoy a Home Telecom postgame fireworks extravaganza in conjunction with WEZL and Live 5 News following the game as the RiverDogs celebrate the epic scores of the great composer John Williams. It's also a Red Shirt Friday honoring the military; fans that wear red save a buck at the gate with the option to donate that dollar to the Palmetto Military Support Group.
Saturday, May 5, 6:05 p.m.: Cinco de Mayo/Helicopter Ball Drop: The RiverDogs will try to conquer last year's condiment commemoration with the second annual Cinco de Mayo(nnaise) celebration. Interns and unlucky fans will soak in the yolk during mayo-themed games throughout the night which is presented by NASH FM and Fox 24. With proof an ID at the box office, any residents of Mayo, Florida or the Village of Mayo, Yukon in Canada will receive free admission, cinco jars of mayo, cinco doggie dollars, and cinco items from the merchandise store. Also, fans can try their luck at winning $2,000 (or cinco X $400) during the first Fly-In Helicopter bouncy ball drop of the season.
Sunday, May 6, 5:05 p.m.: Superhero Day/Holy City Sunday/Bark for Your Brew: Superheroes unite at The Joe! Take your photo with some of the most popular comic book characters in the universe on an MUSC Health Family Sunday in the Holy City presented by CCPRC, Y102.5 and Lowcountry CW, where kids get in free, play pre-game catch on the field, and eat free before running the bases postgame. Sunday is also an extra dog day at The Joe as fans can purchase a $25 ticket to the annual Bark for Your Brew Festival featuring 13 craft beer and cider vendors, hot dog samples, a pre-game pooch parade, and also includes admission to the game that night.
Monday, May 7, 7:05 p.m.: Monday Dog Day: The RiverDogs open the gates for their four-legged fans on another Monday Dog Day at The Joe in conjunction with 98Rock. Humans can enjoy dollar beers and hot dogs courtesy of Busch Light while the Charleston club's biggest fans pack the park on another canine-friendly evening at Riley Park to wrap up the homestand. The RiverDogs also welcome Lowcountry Little League teams on the rescheduled Youth Baseball Night this year. As part of "Dogs with a Cause," the RiverDogs and Blackbaud, the local software and services leader for the global philanthropic community, will share the spotlight with a local nonprofit. This week, the club spotlights Pets for Gls.
