Wenatchee Wild News Release
WENATCHEE, Wash. - The Wenatchee Wild and Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy, proud members of the Western Hockey League (WHL) and Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL), are pleased to announce the hiring of Spencer White as the Academy's new assistant coach for its 14-and-Under and 15-Only weekend programs.
"We are excited to announce that Spencer White has agreed to join our program this year as an assistant coach for our 14U and 15O teams," said Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy director Troy Mick. "Spencer is a Wenatchee resident and alumnus of the Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy. He will be a valuable asset to help these young players to navigate the Tier I landscape, as he has done it himself. He will bring his junior playing experience on and off the ice to develop our players."
White's arrival in the program marks a homecoming, as the East Wenatchee native returns to the same organization for which he played five seasons from 2015 to 2020, working his way up from the 14U team to a two-year stretch on the 18U roster. He served regularly as an alternate captain during his time with the Wild AAA program, and led his Wenatchee teams to multiple state championships. He graduated to a two-year junior career in the Eastern Hockey League, helping the New Jersey 87s to an EHL regular-season title in 2020-21, followed by a South Division championship and an EHL playoff championship the following year.
"I can't wait for this upcoming season to start," said White. "The coaching staff is already filled with outstanding coaches, and I am honored to be able to join them. I remember how fun and productive the weekend practices were when I was a player, and I'm excited to be on the coaching side this time."
The Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy will field four USA Hockey Tier I teams in the 2024-25 season, with all four programs eligible for USA Hockey's year-end district and national tournaments. The program's 14U and 15O teams are weekend programs, with the 14U team accepting invitations to participate as a guest program in two of the CSSHL's Under-15 Varsity showcases and an Under-15 Prep showcase this past season. Wenatchee's 15O team is the first in the state of Washington - last season, the Wild Hockey Academy fielded a team that included only 2008-born players as it sought official 15O certification from USA Hockey and the Pacific Northwest Amateur Hockey Association
The Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy is excited to welcome Spencer White as the newest member of the Wild family, and look forward to his contributions as its 14U and 15O assistant coach.
