Wenatchee Valley Venom Tryouts Saturday September 26th

Local players get signed at Venom tryout camp, Wenatchee's new arena football team. Thirty nine hopeful players turned out for the Saturday, Sept. 26th tryouts held at Wenatchee High School. Coach Keith Evans happy with the numbers said, "It's a great day for football, I'm happy with the turnout and appreciate these guys coming out here today."

Among the eight players to sign contracts Saturday, Wenatchee Valley had four local guys to stand in the signing line. Aaron Todd, Chris Peterson, Kolt Thompson and Matt Martinez shined in front of coaches and managers Saturday and will be heading to camp in January.

Newly signed Matt Martinez states, "Tryouts were kind of what I expected, it was cool seeing the other players out there running around, now I need to get into better shape. I'm excited to be with the team and work with Coach Evans."

The team will be formed from the forty players that will be at camp, there are currently 23 players signed. There will be twenty players on the active roster from week to week with ten players signed but not active or suited for games. There will be fourteen games total for the season that will start in March and continue through July.

Owner Frank Kuntz said, "It's a great time to start a franchise; we've got a good group of guys starting the team and our coaches are coming together to build a strong team for the Venom."

The Wenatchee Venom promises to be a fun hard hitting time at the Town Toyota Center this season.
