October 12, 2010 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Wenatchee Valley Venom News Release

The Wenatchee Valley Venom Professional Indoor Football Team has signed nine players to Indoor Football League (IFL) contracts as the team prepares for the 2011 IFL season starting in February.

Three of the signees played for the Venom in the franchise's first season in 2010, including wide receiver Phil Goodman. Goodman, who played at Temple University, was Wenatchee Valley's leading receiver last season with 69 catches for 875 yards and 17 touchdowns. Now living in Wenatchee, Phil has also been a big contributor off the field this year with numerous public appearances supporting charitable organizations and the youth of the Wenatchee Valley. Also re-signing with the Venom are linebackers Michael Graise from Washington State University and Isaiah Wiley from Montana State University.

The Venom strengthened themselves even more at the receiver position with the signing of Rodney Soward, Jr., the former University of Southern California Trojan who played two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars after being taken with the 29th pick in the first round of the 2000 NFL Draft. He also played three seasons in the

Canadian Football League.

Soward is one of six new Venom signees. The others are wide receivers Andrew Allen (Central Arkansas) and Kevin Page (Glenville State), defensive back Ray Little (Sacramento City College), running back Chris Poindexter (Valley Forge) and linebacker Fred Holmes (UCLA). Holmes was a part of the Billings Outlaws' IFL championship team last season.

The Venom are also pursuing quarterback Chris Dixon, a two-time IFL MVP who led the Billings Outlaws to league championships in 2006, 2009 and 2010. Dixon, released by the Outlaws on September 16th so he could pursue other opportunities, will be coming to Wenatchee from October 13-15 to meet with the Venom.
