Baltimore Mariners Grab Hereford's Goloboski

BALTIMORE, MD (October 1, 2009) - Adam Goloboski a former prep start at Hereford High School, who earned All-American honors at Richmond, has Canadian Football League (CFL) and National Football League (NFL) experience, and was a member of the U.S. National Bobsled Team, has committed to returning to the Baltimore Mariners in 2010.

"It feels great to be able to play home in Baltimore. This is the place where it all started for me when I was five years old. Twenty years later and I'm right back where it all began. After playing in the league last year and traveling from one city to the next, I honestly believe Baltimore has the greatest fans around. The atmosphere and the commitment from the fans and Mariners' staff are great and really help us, as players, to push ourselves even harder," said Goloboski.

At Hereford Goloboski set school records with 2,187 rushing yards and 32 total touchdowns while earning All-State and All-Metro selections as a junior and senior. He led the team to consecutive 13-0 records and state championships in 2001 and 2002. On the defensive side of the ball, as a senior, he totaled an amazing 191 tackles including 38 for a loss, nine sacks, returned one of four interceptions for a touchdown, recovered two fumbles and blocked a punt.

For the Richmond Spiders, of the Atlantic 10, he started 39 of 44 games in four seasons and amassed 406 total tackles. Following a junior season in which he notched 131 tackles, he was named Second Team All-American by SportsXchange. Prior to his senior season he was named to preseason All-American teams by Sports Xchange, 1-AA.org, and Don Hansen's Football Gazette. In 2007 Goloboski was signed by the Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL and later was invited to training camp with the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals. In 2008 Goloboski took a break from football as a member of the U.S. National Bobsled Team and trained for the 2010 Olympic Games.

In only eight games for the Mariners in 2009 Goloboski quickly tallied 30.5 tackles (22 solo/17 assisted) from his linebacker position ranking him first on the squad with 3.8 tackles per game and third in total tackles. He also ranked 14th overall in the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) in tackles per game.

Mariners Head Coach Chris Simpson noted, "Adam is a tough, physical ball player. He did a tremendous job adjusting to the indoor game and he will be a great asset to what I consider one the best linebacking corps in the league. I am excited to see Adam back in a Mariners uniform."
