Wells Named June's AFL Kicker of the Month

The Arena Football League today announced that Dallas Desperados kicker Jason Wells has been named the league's Kicker of the Month for his performance during the month of June. Wells finished the month 12-of-16 on field goal attempts and 32-of-34 extra point attempts.
Wells' performance during the five games in June helped the Desperados streak to four consecutive victories to start the month before falling on the last weekend of June to San Jose. For the season, Wells is 18-of-29 on field goal attempts and 64-73 on extra point attempts. His 62.1 field goal conversion percentage leads the entire league through the first 11 games of the season, and he leads the league in points scored by a kicker with 118.
He kicked off the month in Los Angeles (6/1) by connecting on two-of-two field goals and eight-of-eight PATs in helping Dallas avenge an earlier loss to the Avengers. The following week against Indiana (6/8), he converted one-of-two field goal attempts and 10-of-11 PATs
At Arizona (6/16) on national television, Wells hit on five-of- six field goals and three-of-three extra points. His five field goals tied the fourth best total in a game in AFL history, and his 34-yard conversion as the clock expired gave the Desperados a 36-33 victory. Wells accounted for 18 of Dallas' 36 points on the day.
Returning to Harrah's Field at American Airlines Center, Wells continued his hot hand by making four-of-five field goal attempts and six-of-six PATs against Tampa Bay (6/22). Last week against league leading San Jose (6/29), he missed his only field goal attempt but converted five-of-six PATs.
Wells and the rest of the Dallas Desperados return to Harrah's Field at American Airlines Center this weekend to face the Detroit Fury.
