Grand Rapids Rampage News Release

Grand Rapids, MI - The ArenaBowl XV Champion Grand Rapids Rampage announced today that defensive specialist JoJo Polk and offensive specialist Terrill Shaw will return from ankle injuries for Saturday's game against the Chicago Rush, but breakout offensive specialist Steve Smith will miss at least the next two weeks due to an ankle injury of his own.

Polk (6-0, 181, Northeastern State) returns to the Rampage lineup after spending the last three weeks nursing an ankle injury that was suffered during practice. Through six games this season, the 2001 All-Rookie Team member ranks third on the team in tackles (31.5) and fourth in defended passes (7).

Shaw (6-0, 175, Southern Mississippi) returns to the lineup after spending the last five weeks on the team's injured list with a small fracture in his right ankle. Prior to his injury, the former ArenaBowl MVP played in six games, catching 28 passes for 370 yards and eight touchdowns.

Smith (5-9, 180, Utah State), who was named the Arena Football League's Player of the Month for the month of May, heads to the injured list for the first time this season after playing only two plays the last two weeks. The Breakout Player of the Year candidate currently leads the Rampage in receptions (72), receiving yards (872) and touchdowns (26). He joins wide receiver/linebacker Ricky Ross and linemen Demetrius Crowder and Tyshaun Whitson on Grand Rapids' injured reserve list.

Both Polk and Shaw are scheduled to start tomorrow night as the Rampage (6-5) face the Rush (7-4) in a crucial Central Division game at Van Andel Arena. The 2002 regular season finale kicks off at 7:30 p.m.
