June 7, 2011 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Club Deportivo Chivas USA News Release

CHIVAS USA RETURNS TO THE ROAD, FACE DYNAMO ON SATURDAY: After back-to-back home games at The Home Depot Center, Chivas USA travels to Houston to take on the Dynamo this Saturday. This is Chivas USA's first meeting with the Dynamo this season, but the trip has historically been a challenge for Chivas USA. The Goats haven't scored in their last seven games in Houston's Robertson Stadium, and are 0-5-2 during that scoreless run. Saturday's game kicks off at 5:30p.m. PT and will be broadcast on KWHY, Prime Ticket and W Radio 690 AM.

FC DALLAS THE OPPONENT FOR NEXT HOME GAME: In two weeks time, Chivas USA will take on the other Texas team, hosting FC Dallas at The Home Depot Center. Kicking off at 7:30 p.m. PT, the match will be broadcast on KWHY, Prime Ticket, and W Radio 690 AM. The match marks defender Heath Pearce's first MLS appearance against his former team. Single-game tickets are on sale now, and fans can also take advantage of great rates for Season Seats and multi-game packs, including a special offer of both games this week, all by calling 1-877-CHIVAS-1 or visiting cdchivasusa.com.

MORENO AND BOYENS RETURN FROM INTERNATIONAL DUTY: Defender Andrew Boyens played 72 minutes in New Zealand's 3-0 loss to Mexico, and 45 minutes in the All Whites' 3-0 defeat to Australia, while forward Alejandro Moreno played against Guatemala in Venezuela's 2-0 victory last week. Moreno will also be part of the Venezuela squad set to host World Champion's Spain on Tuesday, before returning to the Red-and-White in time to face Houston this weekend.

RED-AND-WHITE TAKE FOUR POINTS FROM HOME GAMES AGAINST MLS' NEWEST TEAMS: It was a busy week at The Home Depot Center for Chivas USA, with matches against the Vancouver Whitecaps and the Portland Timbers. A Nick LaBrocca goal on Wednesday night helped Chivas USA hold the Whitecaps to a 1-1 result. On Saturday the Goats took all three points, riding a Marcos Mondaini goal and Dan Kennedy shutout to a 1-0 result. A RETURN TO THE LINEUP FOR FOUR GOATS: Saturday's game against Portland Timbers featured four Goats making their first starts after absences. Marcos Mondaini returned from a four game suspension, and scored the winning goal in an emotional performance. Mike Lahoud and Paulo Nagamura both made their first starts after recovering from injuries, and Nagamura had the assist on Mondaini's goal. Jorge Flores also returned from a one game suspension in the Portland match, playing all 90 minutes.

MENDOZA APPROACHING CHIVAS USA APPEARANCE RECORD: After starting in Wednesday's game against Vancouver, Francisco 'Panchito' Mendoza has now played in 120 games for Chivas USA. Mendoza is getting very close to Jonathan Bornstein's record 123 appearances, needing only four more appearances to set the new record. Mendoza, the Mexican player with the most all-time Major League Soccer appearances, returned to Chivas USA this season after playing the past two years in Mexico. The fan favorite and Chivas USA original has appeared in 9 matches this season, and passed Sacha Kljestan's 114 appearances earlier this year.

Chivas USA dropped to ten men after Cortez received a red card, and fell behind 3-1.
