Weekly Preview: Steel Host Madison in Final Preseason Home Game Friday

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - The Chicago Steel host the Madison Capitols on Friday at 7:05 pm in the final exhibition contest at Fox Valley Ice Arena. It is the last chance for Steel fans to take advantage of preseason pricing with tickets in all zones priced at just $10 (excluding suites and Budweiser Lounge).

After the matchup at Fox Valley Ice Arena, the teams will face off at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena in Wisconsin on Saturday in the Steel's final preseason game before the regular season begins September 28 & 29 at the Dick's Sporting Goods USHL Fall Classic in Cranberry Township, Penn.

The Steel have an 18-7-2-0 all-time record in the regular season against Madison with a 9-3-1-0 mark at home. Chicago went 4-0-1-0 in five contests versus the Capitols during the 2018-19 campaign.

Forwards Brendan Brisson (2G), Elis Hede (1G, 1A) and Gunnarwolfe Fontaine (1G, 1A) each carry two-game preseason point streaks into the home-and-home set against the Capitols, the final exhibition tune-up before the regular season slate begins.

The Steel made two transactions this week, trading goaltender Jack Williams and two 2020 Phase 1 draft picks to the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Monday in exchange for a 2020 Phase 1 selection and a 2021 Phase 2 draft pick. The following day, Chicago traded forward Matthew Sutton and a 2021 Phase 1 selection to the Omaha Lancers and received a 2021 Phase 1 draft pick in return.

As of September 17th, the training camp roster stands at 23 players; 13 forwards, seven defensemen and three goaltenders with 18 NCAA Division 1 commitments and six first-year NHL Draft-eligible players.

Rosters are subject to change and players are not guaranteed to dress during the exhibition contests.
