Weekly Preview: Road Trip and Teddy Bear Toss Night

RALSTON, NE - The Omaha Lancers (10-18-3-1) are off of a 3-in-3 weekend winning two of the three games played gaining 4 points for a total of 24 on the year. The Lancers topped the Des Moines Buccaneers in a shootout by a final score of 5-4 last Saturday and calmed the Storm on Sunday evening at Ralston Arena 4-2.

The fourth tilt between Omaha and Des Moines will take place on Friday, January 18th at Buccaneer Arena. The Bucs have the better record of the season series 2-1. Jon Mor took the start last Saturday stopping 35 of the 39 shots he faced earning his first win as an Omaha Lancer. Travis Mitchell received the first star of the game with the game-winning shootout goal, while eight different Lancers received points in the 5-4 win. Puck drop is scheduled at 7:05 pm.

Saturday will be the first time the Lincoln Stars will enter Ralston Arena this season and the fourth time the two rivals will face off this year. The Lancers have the better season series record against the Stars, 2-1-0-0. The Lancers took the first win against the Stars on Oct. 5 for Lincoln's home opener winning 6-5 in OT. Then on Nov. 2nd, the Lancers topped the Stars again 5-4 in OT and then were defeated by Lincoln 4-2 on November 30th. Saturday night is Teddy Bear Toss night. The Lancers ask that fans bring new or gently used stuffed animals to toss onto the ice for the Lancers first goal. Proceeds will go to local charities. Puck drop is at 7:05 pm and tickets are limited.

Ryan Savage leads Lancers forwards in scoring with 17 points (8-9-17)

Travis Mitchell is the top scoring defenseman and has dished out the most assists for the Lancers (0-10-10)

Aleksi Peltonen is on a five-game point streak earning 4 goals and 3 assists since December, 31st

Akira Schmid: 2.65 GAA and a .907 SV%

Jon Mor: 3.44 GAA and a .890 SV%

Des Moines Buccaneers (20-10-1-2):

Matt Brown tallied the most points for Des Moines with 34 (18-19-37)

TJ Walsh has dished the puck for the most assists for the Buccaneers with 20 (10-20-30)

Scooter Brickey has the most points for all Des Moines defenders with 21 points (5-17-22)

Roman Durny: 2.51 GAA and a .913 SV%

James Durham: 3.18 GAA and a .898 SV%

Lincoln Stars (8-20-3-1):

Stars faceoff Thursday night vs the Capitols in Madison

Justin Lee is the top scoring defenseman for the Lincoln (3-12-15)
