ICE CHIPS: The Kootenay ICE enter the 21st week of the 2004-2005 season with a 34-13-5-1 record (21-4-3-1 at home, 13-9-2-0 on the road, 3-0-5-1 in overtime) and in second place in both the BC DIVISION and in the WESTERN HOCKEY LEAGUE...KOOTENAY is ranked second in the CHL MOSIAK MASTERCARD WEEKLY TOP TEN RANKINGS...The ICE will play 12 of their final 19 regular season games on the road...KOOTENAY has tied their point total from the 2003-2004 season (74 points) will 19 games still remaining...The ICE will finish with an above .500 record for the sixth consecutive season.
PLAYOFF PACKAGES NOW ON SALE: Season ticket holders are reminded that the 2004-05 eight-game playoff packages are now available for purchase at the ICE office...Packages must be purchased prior to March 4.
STUDIO PHOTOS: The KOOTENAY ICE, in partnership with CRANBROOK PHOTO AND STUDIO are selling studio portraits of NIGEL DAWES and JEFF GLASS in their TEAM CANADA jerseys with their Gold Medals...A portion of the proceeds from photo sales will benefit the KOOTENAY ICE PLAYERS EDUCATION FUND...CRANBROOK PHOTO will be holding an autograph session on Saturday, March 5 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm with JEFF and NIGEL on hand to sign your photos...For more information, contact the ICE office.
DID YOU KNOW: ADAM TAYLOR has played 270 consecutive regular season games...TAYLOR is third in career assists with 116 (MIKE GREEN is second with 122 career assists) and is sixth in the WHL in plus/minus at +29...NIGEL DAWES needs one more power play goal to break the franchise record (JARRET STOLL holds the record with 54 career power play goals)...DAWES, who set a franchise record for most game winning goals during the regular season with ten January 28th versus the BRONCOS, is first in the League in game winning goals, is tied for fifth in power play goals with twelve and is tied for eighth in goals scored with 27...JEFF GLASS needs four more wins to move into first place on the ICE all-time list for career wins (DAN BLACKBURN holds the current record with 67 career wins)...GLASS is second in the WHL in goals against average (1.79), is first in save percentage (.929) and is third in wins with 23...ADAM CRACKNELL, who needs two goals to reach 50 in his WHL career, needs to play in eight more games to reach 200 in his WHL career...The ICE are 1-0-0-1 during the month of February (11-0-1-0 in January, 5-5-1-0 in December, 8-1-1-0 in November, 6-7-1-0 in October, 3-0-1-0 in September).
INJURY: Defenseman BRAD COLE will be out of the KOOTENAY line-up one to two weeks with a broken arm.
ONE YEAR AGO: After 53 games of the 2003-2004 season the ICE were 25-21-4-3, after 54 games 25-22-4-3 and after 55 games 25-23-4-3.
