Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release
PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey League, suffered 5-4 shootout loss on the road against the Michigan Warriors Friday in their lone game this weekend.
Port Huron overcame a 3-1 deficit, sending the game to overtime on a goal with less than 30 seconds to play. The team was held scoreless in overtime and in the shootout, however, and earned just one point in the matchup against the Warriors.
ÃâÃÂ
Taylor Fernandez scored twice for the Fighting Falcons, who also got a goal from Nick Horne, and a game-tying score from leading scorer Mitch Maloney. Niko Coffman and Bryce Van Horn tallied two assists apiece, while Matt Seidel, Jonathan Kopacka and Logan Lambdin each added a helper of their own.
ÃâÃÂ
The Fighting Falcons fired 43 shots on Warriors goalie Trevor Gorsuch, who stopped all five shootout attempts to earn the win. Max Milosek turned away 26 of 30 Michigan shots before allowing just one goal on four attempts in the shootout.
ÃâÃÂ
Despite the shootout loss, the Fighting Falcons remain atop the North Division standings with 38 points and an overall record of 16-4-6. Port Huron is tied for second in the NAHL's overall standings, and has the fewest regulation losses in the league.
ÃâÃÂ
Though they have lost four of their last five games, the Fighting Falcons hold a four-point lead over the Johnstown Tomahawks in the North standings. The Tomahawks have played two games more than the Fighting Falcons so far this season.
ÃâÃÂ
The team looks to bounce back from a string of tough losses when they host the Warriors Wednesday, December 11 at 6 p.m. at McMorran Arena. Kids 12 & under can get a free ticket to Wednesday's game if accompanied by a paid adult (limit 2 children per adult).
