Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming weekend in Wings Hockey!
Friday night the Aberdeen Wings (12-15-5) make their first trip of the season to the VFW Sports Center in Bismarck, ND to take on the Bismarck Bobcats (18-13-1). The puck drop is at 7:25 CST. Aberdeen is currently only 6 points out of a playoff spot after a slow start to the season. Since the break The Wings are 3-2-0 and making up ground. The Bobcats are currently tied for 2nd in the division with 37 points. Bismarck has had their struggles at the VFW however, as they are only 6-7-1. Aberdeen is 5-6-4 on the road.
Tucker DeYoung is the points leader for the Wings with 9 goals and 16 assists. DeYoung and Fitzgerald have picked up the Wings over the last 5 games totaling 6 goals and 4 assists. Matt Pulver has also made a huge difference since returning from injury. Pulver has 2 goals and 3 assists in 5 games, both goals were game winners. Peter Thome has established himself as the last line of defense for the Wings. Starting in the last 5 games Thome has a 3-1-1 record with a 2.16 GAA and 155 saves. Two of those games came against division leading Austin.
Saturday Aberdeen will turn around and become the host team. They welcome Bismarck to the Odde for the 5th time already this season. Currently Aberdeen is 0-4 against the Bobcats but look to change that around with the home and home series.
